A puzzling mistake
A correction to my previous newsletter and some early Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals
This newsletter includes a puzzle discount (for real this time), 40% off my favorite luggage (there are only a few left), the lowest discount I have seen on my favorite pillow, and a sale on my favorite LED mask.
Once I press “publish” on my Substacks, I try not to revisit it since I usually spend at least 4 hours on one. I was nervous to send a newsletter about my disappointment in the election results. I had already decided that if I sent out my newsletter about it, I would not read the comments or messages - just in case they were mean.
Nope. No mean comments or messages. Only messages about how people went to buy a puzzle from Puzzlefolk and the discount was missing. Oh… that… Yeah… I got the date wrong. The Puzzlefolk sale is TODAY (for the next 20 hours) through tomorrow (November 14th) at noon EST.
Puzzle through the grief
If you missed this post, I talked about a few things I am doing to find joy in a season I dread as both my parents died during this season - mom three days after Thanksgiving and dad ten days before Christmas.
Rebecca has always loved putting together puzzles—even as a baby. I have never liked puzzles; I did not have the patience for them because I found them overwhelming. However, it has been an excellent activity to do together as a family, and it's good practice for me to remember that minor progressions matter.
I was introduced to Puzzlefolk puzzles when we went to New York City to meet with other Flagship creators. Fatima (IG:@Stylefitfatty) brought the Puzzlefolk puzzle as one of her favorite things, and I loved how cute and bright the colors were. I bought a few after I got home, and we have been working on one for the last week.
They only have 500 and 1,000-piece puzzles, which are a little intense for me as I prefer a 24-piece puzzle. Haha. You must pay for shipping unless you hit the $75 minimum, but that minimum can include any other items from my shop! Or, if you buy one of my bundles, you can get free shipping regardless of the minimum. So, I put together a bundle of a few of my obsessions right now and a puzzle:
Puzzle Spice—Extra 10% off—This includes a Christmas puzzle, the spice I use on everything, and my favorite notepad.
If you want a puzzle but don’t want to pay shipping, I've made a bundle! You can buy the most random assortment of things—but isn’t that what my account is anyway?
Tomorrow, the discount will be on this salt I am newly obsessed with, and on Friday, there will be a discount on my favorite Kindle covers (with free shipping!). I completely understand if you are avoiding social media, so you can visit our Flagship anytime to shop!
Early Black Friday Sales
Remember when Black Friday sales only happened around Thanksgiving? I have noticed a lot of my favorite products are on sale right now with early BFCM deals, so I thought I would send out a quick shopping edit:
I LOVE my Paravel carryon. I have had it for 2.5 years now. It is expensive, but I think it is better than Away, Beis, and other cheaper luggage brands I have tried regarding interior compression. Plus, it is cute, has a great warranty, and GLIDES across the airport floor. Missy borrowed mine and loved it so much she purchased her own. Right now, it is 40% off on the black and cream (what Missy and I have). Wow. Past Sarah even made a video on why I love it.
Pillow Cube - I have talked about this pillow non-stop for a year. I am a side sleeper. I am a side sleeper who is also overweight. I am always on my phone. So, I always had tension headaches and migraines.
If you do not know the story, I tried it a few years ago after getting targeted Instagram ads for it. I bought it. Didn’t like it. Posted about it (and tagged the brand). A follower said - just keep trying - I am telling you. And I did. And now I only sleep with that pillow and the Sleep Crown and my tension headaches/migraines have significantly decreased.
I usually link through Amazon, but recently became a direct affiliate so if you buy through my link you can also get an extra 10% off - making it $45 - the cheapest I have seen it! You do have to pay shipping, so it might be more affordable to buy through Amazon if you want the side cube (the one I prefer).
If you want a travel version, you can buy a travel pillow and a carrying case that helps flatten it for more accessible travel on their website.
FAQs: I have both the Side Cube and the Ice Cube Deluxe and cannot tell the difference. I just use whatever pillowcase I have with my sheet set on it. I have the 5”
Currentbody LED Mask
I have been using a LED Mask for almost four years. I mean, tell me you have been following GoalstoGetGlowing for fours without telling me. She is the LED Queen and did a PhD level dissertation on why LED masks are beneficial & which ones she liked before they were popularized.
LED light can help stimulate cell renewal and improve blood circulation, helping to increase skin brightness, reduce dark circles, and minimize the look of pores and blemishes. I don’t understand the science behind it, but I also know it can help reduce inflammation.
I bought my first LED mask (Light Salon) the February after my dad died because I had my face eczema was flaring so much from crying for basically 5 months straight. It was SO inflamed. LED helps with inflammation so I noticed that with both my eyelid eczema and cystic acne, it would help with inflammation, itchiness and pain.
Then Currentbody gifted me their Series 1 (their only mask at the time), and I LOVED it. It is the same as the Light Salon, but the straps fit my head better. I started using it regularly at night. I would wash my face, apply a hydrating serum, and then do two rounds of ten minutes. Sometimes, I would multitask; other times, I would just lay there and enjoy the peace.
I do so much to my skin that I look the youngest I have looked in probably ten years - so I cannot claim it is all LED. However, it makes a big difference in my glow and firmness.
Currentbody recently came out with their newest LED mask - the Series 2. It is made from more flexible silicone, so it fits even better than its original, comes with more lights, and has two comfortable straps that attach to the back of your head for the best fit. It also has a clip-on adapter that you can clip on and wear around the house - although I do not recommend getting dressed with it on. I did that one day, and my socks were mismatched. There has not been a discount deeper than 10%, but from now until the beginning of December, you can get 20% off the Series 2 or 20% off the Series 1. Some people have even had luck submitting for reimbursement through HSA or FSA since LED is covered. However, I cannot guarantee that because plans differ among employers. It is worth a try if you are buying it regardless. Please do not buy it thinking it will be reimbursed, as I know some people planned to deny the mask last year.
I always need to figure out how to end these newsletters, but I must prepare for our virtual book club tonight, where we discuss Husbands and Lovers! If you are not a book club member, download the Bookclubs app and join!
You are a menace to my pocketbook! lol
