Vacation
We got home last Saturday from a week long stay at a beach house 1in North Myrtle Beach with our family and our dad’s brother’s family. 12 adults and 4 kids in a beach house and it was so much fun!
I mentioned this in the last newsletter, but Myrtle Beach is one of the vacation destinations that we regularly visited growing up. If it was not Myrtle Beach, it was wherever my dad had a conference to attend. We would just tag along and hang out with my mom all day. I remember one of our favorite vacation spots was Atlanta because we loved the outdoor pool at the Hawthorn Suites and it was close to a mall. That’s the magic of vacationing as a child - as long as we were near a pool, it was a vacation.
To locals and to others in the Midwest, Myrtle Beach has a reputation of being a trashy tourist trap. And I am not saying that it is not a tourist trap. And there are definitely some good people watching opportunities. But it is affordable, and provided us so many years of magical memories with my family. I appreciate that it can give other families the same thing - and it has been one of my favorite vacations in a few years!
I need to get the rest of the pictures off of my real camera, but until then here are a few from our trip:
Mounjaro Update
It has been almost a year since Missy and I shared our blogposts on our experiences with Ozempic and Mounjaro. I want to update everyone on how it is going, but I just always forget that people care? I get questions almost every day about it, so I created this GLP/Food/Exercise broadcast channel. But only I could share — and people have a lot of questions. After a lot of deliberation, I decided to create a Facebook group so everyone could share their experiences/questions. I am only opening it to those who receive this newsletter and my broadcast channel. And you have to answer some pretty tough questions before you are accepted …

Jenny Bird Discount
A math formula I just solved for: Spray tan + anklet = boundless confidence. I had no idea. I mean I had an inkling. I have always loved to wear anklets. All those family trips to the beach and the Waves beach store. Missy and I looking over every available puka shell necklace or string anklet, deciphering which one will change our lives the most.
I had planned on showing off my #newankletnewme body in a full body Instagram story or even a feed post - like that is how much I was feeling myself. But accidentally let it slip in a post about a book that I was now an anklet girlie. I could not believe how many people were interested in my anklet! I like to think it is because everyone noticed I was now a new person and they wanted whatever I had.
Fast forward to me selling enough anklets for Jenny Bird to message me on ShopMy and basically said “goirllllll, we noticed your ankle+spray tan swag all the way here!”2 And I was like “ wait, can I get a code for my followers?” And that is how we now have a one time 15% off Jenny Bird code that can be used up until August 31st. There are some exceptions, like fine jewelry, but otherwise it seems everything else is fair game.
This is a great code for us to have because we love Jenny Bird accessories. They are not sponsoring this newsletter or anything - we truly buy their earrings all the time. This was my first anklet purchase and I am so happy with it! It is unlike any other anklet I have seen, wears well in water, and has adjustable extender.
Linked all of our favorites, along with the discount code, here. This is definitely my least favorite. But respect to those mover and shakers out there looking to make a statement. If not in your price range, I have had great luck with Pavoi jewelry on Amazon. I have not tried their anklets, but the earrings are great quality and have yet to tarnish - and I wear all the time!
Caged Sandals
Missy set our DMs ablaze when she first posted these sandals in January. We really thought that Abercrombie or Steve Madden would have come out with an lower-cost inspired by pair for the summer. They will probably come out next summer. However,
posted these last night on her instagram stories and I bought three pairs to try. Because THEY COME IN A SIZE 12 and have four colorways!!! I have no idea on the quality, and to be honest, I have no idea how long they will last on Amazon. It says it will take a few weeks to get here, so only time will tell. I will do a full review once I get them, but as history has shown for Amazon products like this — you never know how long the listing will last. So I acted fast.LYLAS XX Sarah3
If you made it all the way through the newsletter — thank you for reading! If you enjoy our newsletter, please share with someone else who you think would enjoy it!
We received no discount on our stay, but loved it! We have always used Elliott Beach Rentals growing up, so I liked knowing we could trust the quality and customer service. I do not even receive commission on this recommendation. They have no idea who I am.
Legally I have to disclaim they did not actually say that. But I am sure it is what they were thinking.
Remember signing “LYLAS” in yearbooks? It means “Love you like a sister.” Seemed appropriate for our account.
I haven’t worn an anklet since the early 2000s now you have me convinced that I need one!
Thank you for the Jenny Bird discount! This is one of my favorite jewelry brands.
